What sparked your
interest in becoming a romance writer?
I
think storytelling is just one of those things that's in my blood. Growing up
in a very big Mexican-American family, I was constantly bombarded by loud,
crazy and often hilarious stories. Storytelling is part of that culture and I
think I just naturally gravitated toward writing as a career. Once I discovered
those battered copies of The Flame and
the Flower and A Rose in Winter, I was hooked on romances and knew that
someday I wanted to write one.
Do you plan all your
characters out before you start a story or do they develop as you write?
I
like to plan my characters before I start because it gives me a better feel for
their motivations and dialogue. Every now and then, I'll have a nifty idea
while writing and a new character development gets folded into the narrative.
Who is your perfect
hero? And why?
I
like an alpha male with a tender side. There's something so sexy about a
commanding, capable man who isn't afraid to show his softer side.
Which authors have
caught your interest lately? Why?
I
discovered Dez Burke about a week ago through an Amazon Also Bought
recommendation—and now I'm tearing through her backlist! She writes these hot,
decadent interracial romances that are just delicious. She really understands

I've
always wanted to take a crack at a cozy mystery. I love, love, love knitting
