Author Info
I’m a
California native, who lives in the South – Virginia to be exact. I still
prefer sushi to fried chicken, avocado to okra, and I absolutely loathe
humidity, but I love watching the seasons change. My husband and I have
been here for ten years, and I still get giddy like a school girl every time it
snows.
I’m married
to my high school sweetheart. We were married young, barely out of high
school, when everyone told us we were crazy and stupid. We’ll be
celebrating 12 years of marriage this year, and I love him more every single
day. We’re living proof that true love knows no age limit.
We’ve been
blessed with two beautiful daughters who continue to amaze and inspire me, and
are probably making me go a bit insane. I’m obsessed with yoga and
pilates and am a complete chocoholic. I apologize in advance
for the amount of sweets in my book.
I’m
absolutely obsessed with romance novels (duh) and probably could have built a
vacation home with the amount of money I’ve invested in them over the years.
Romance novels take you to another place, making your heart race,
emotions swell, passion run free. After so many years of meeting hundreds
of fictional characters and discovering their worlds, I found myself creating
my own.
My debut
novel, When You’re Ready, a novel about about finding love after loss,
will be released August 1st!

What
sparked your interest in becoming a romance writer?
My love for reading. I
have always loved to write, but I was a reader first. I’m the girl who has her head buried in an
e-reader telling everyone to be quiet.
After years of devouring every romance novel I could find, I started
dreaming up my own stories and characters.
I finally decided I needed to get them out of my head, and that’s when I
sat down and began to write.
What was
the first romance novel you read that made an impression on you?
After becoming a mother, reading, like many other things, took
a backseat to my beautiful daughters. In
time, I was able to venture out into the world again, and I stumbled upon a
little known book called Twilight.
Ever heard of it? After that, I was
hooked on reading again. I wore out the
carpet of my local library checking out stacks of romance novels until my
husband bought my the BEST anniversary present in the world - an e-reader! I
think he seriously regrets that gift choice.
Our bank account was a lot fuller when I use to go to the library! :-)
One of
your favorite quotes.
Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies -
Aristotle
Who is
your perfect hero? And why?
I love heros that are flawed.
Perfection doesn’t appeal to me at all.
I like my heros to be rough around the edges, and maybe have a past they
aren’t proud of. They need to have a
starting place, where they can grow and become the man they are supposed to
be. Having a redeemable male character
in a book is the ultimate turn-on.
What is
your favorite scene in your new release?
There are so many that are near and dear to my heart, but the
one that really tugs at my heart is the first graveyard scene. Without giving much away, it’s extremely
emotional and was difficult for me to write.
I literally bawled liked a baby as I wrote it. But it is one of those scenes I am most proud
of because it really emcompases every single emotion I had envisoned.
Flirting Questions
Which actor or book
character do you have a crush on?
Ian Somerhalder. He was
my muse writing Logan’s character. Have
you seen his eyes? Is it hot in
here? I need a fan.
What’s
an absolute no-no in a relationship?
Lying. A solid
relationship cannot be built on lies.
How did
you meet your significant other?
Junior high history class.
No, I’m serious! We dated for a
week, and I dumped him. Twice. He was smart and kept his distance until our
senior year, and then he just couldn’t stay away any longer. I haven’t let him go since.
What’s
your idea of a perfect date?
I’m a mom. My idea of a
perfect date is anything that doesn’t involve children. An entire evening of no kids? I don’t care what the hell we do! I’m on board.
If you
could take a romantic trip, where would it be?
Ireland. My husband and
I were married young and couldn’t afford much of a honeymoon. When we celebrated our ten year anniversary,
we went to Ireland for a week, by OURSELVES!
We spent a week exploring ancient ruins, driving through the country and
staying in castles. It was magical.
Do you believe in love at first sight?
Flirting Quickies:
Boxers or Briefs?
Definitely not briefs.
Reminds me of my father. Gross.
Boxer briefs are pretty hot though.
Facial hair or clean shaven?
I know, as romance authors, we make stubble sound sexy, but
in all honesty...there is nothing sexy or comfortable about unshaven chin
stubble in....certain areas. Clean
shaven, thank you!
Alpha or Beta?
Alpha. Totally
hot.
Planner or Panster?
Panster? I don’t even
know what that is.
White wine or red?
White. Red is too dry,
and I feel like I’m chewing it.
Vanilla or chocolate?
Chocolate! Now!! Oh, you weren’t offering. Ok, then.
Sweet or salty?
Can I have both?
Sleep in or get up early?
Sleep in...as late as possible!
Laptop
or desktop?
Laptop. Mother’s must be mobile.
Beach
or mountains?
Beach, please!
Winter
or summer?
I’m from California, so the winter
totally fascinates me. Even after living
in VA for ten years, I still stare out the window when it snows in absolutely
awe. But I like summer too. You can’t go to the beach or the pool in the
winter, and I do love lounging around doing nothing.
Cat
or dog?
I’m a dog person, but cats are
cute. As long as they belong to other
people.
Twilight
or Fifty Shades?
You’re making me choose? It depends on my mood. If I’m feeling romantic - I’ll go with
Edward. If I feeling a bit more wicked,
I’ll grab my husband’s silver tie and pick up a copy of Fifty Shades. :-)
Spotlight
or In the Shadows?
In between. I don’t like to be the center of attention,
but I’m not a wallflower either.
Backpacking or luxury hotel?
I’m a luxury kind of girl.
Morning or night person?
I hate mornings with a passion.
They are evil.
Christmas or Halloween?
Christmas!
Thank you for hosting!
