What sparked your
interest in becoming a romance writer?
I
didn’t plan on writing romance. Or even writing, period. I was an advertising account executive at a
major newspaper and I was good at my job. Very good. I
liked the work, loved the clients and never planned on doing anything
else. But when the economy tanked in
2009, I lost my job because I made a lot of money, my advertisers really solid
and, (here is the kicker), my new boss is intimidated because I also
interviewed for the job she just got.
Yes, the month I was fired, I sold almost 100K in advertising. #2 out of 20 in my company. Makes complete sense to me.
I
had to make a living so I decided to develop a coupon website and while that
site was being built by a design firm in Chicago, I decided to figure out a way
to network with a lot of women (who would be my main target market for my new
website.) This is how I started writing
romance. I found a very popular genre in
fan fiction (didn’t hurt that I loved it) and started writing. But soon, writing became the love of my life
and I spent every available minute consumed with my stories, my characters and
my readers. This is what I was born to
do.

the biggest blessings come disguised in the most unlikely packages. J
Do you plan all your
characters out before you start a story or do they develop as you write?
Yes
and no. I’m a sort of
“fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants kind of girl.
I have a premise in mind a beginning and an ending. Sometimes scenes will just scream at me and
I’ll write them out of sequence… then I figure out how to make them work in the
story. I never begin with no idea what
I’m doing, but I don’t write a structured outline, either.

Who is your perfect
hero? And why?
My
perfect Hero is one who has pure intentions.
Who genuinely loves the woman on his radar. I don’t mean sort of loves her, thinks she’s
pretty or wants to get her into bed…. I mean the “I love you so much you’re the
most important thing in my world”, kind of love that comes from real connection
and caring.
What is your favorite
scene in your new release?
I
like the last chapter and the epilogue the best. But, there are a couple of others that were
some of those “screaming” scenes I mentioned above. I had to write them the moment they formed in
my head, or I was afraid they wouldn’t be as good as I wanted them to be.

What does love feel
like?
Well, this is the
ultimate test of a romance writer, isn’t it?
To see if we can describe in words, a feeling… and not just describe it,
but make the reader FEEL it.
Love can fill your
chest up so much it might burst; yet other times leave a painful, gaping
hole. It’s like inhaling until you can’t
anymore, yet not being able to breath.
It aches. It throbs. it does things to you that you never imagined
possible. It makes you fly to the
heavens, yet drops you to the depths of hell.
It makes you swear you were born for it, yet you’d die for it at the
same time. It’s euphoric, tender,
ecstasy that when it’s gone, leaves you in the worst pain you can ever imagine;
yet even knowing that, you’d willing take that risk a thousand times over. It ‘s beautiful agony.

It
can be anything, as long as it’s with the right person. But whatever it is, he pays, he opens doors,
he plans it. I’m so tired of men, not
