A legacy of family secrets and a deathbed promise is just the beginning of  New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Brenda Jackson’s enticing new novel, A BROTHER’S HONOR (Harlequin MIRA; June 2013; $7.99 U.S. / 9.99 CAN.) , the first book in a new series since her bestselling Madaris and Westmoreland family stories.
A BROTHER’S HONOR chronicles the lives, loves and losses of the Grangers — an accomplished African-American clan of notoriously charming men. It centers on the eldest of three brothers, Jace Granger, a handsomely successful attorney who desperately tries not to fall for the sexy consultant he has hired to save the family business.   But he’s about to learn that sometimes a secret work affair can blossom into true love.

It has been fifteen years since Shepard Granger, CEO of Granger Aeronautics, was sentenced to forty years with no parole for murdering his wife.  Shepard Granger, Richard’s father steps in to raise Shepard’s three sons — Jace, Caden, and Dalton— coming out of his two year retirement as CEO to again take over during his son’s incarceration. Although the brothers were close growing up, they all went their separate ways after college.  Jace went to law school and landed a job as an attorney for a firm out in California.
One day they each receive a call requesting that they come home.  Their grandfather, Richard Granger, has had a heart attack and is not excepted to live. Upon returning to Virginia — the one place they’ve all tried to leave behind along with its bad memories —  the three find chaos at the corporation without Richard’s leadership.  On his deathbed, Richard asks his grandsons to do two things: save the company from ruin and prove their father’s innocence.
When Jace takes over as CEO, the first person he hires to help sort through the mess at Granger Aeronautics is the smart, sexy Shana Bradford whose consulting firm is known for saving failing major corporations. While Jace has to deal with the attraction he has for Shana and concentrate on getting Granger Aeronautics back on solid footing; Shana is undeniably attracted to this gorgeous Granger man and tries to remember her rule of not getting involved with a client.  But this proves to be far more difficult than she ever imagined.
With his palpable sexual charms, Jace seduces Shana and they share a passion-filled night of lovemaking. Suddenly, the insouciant lovers each discover an attraction they cannot deny. Shana tries her best to resist a love affair, but as they spend more and more time together this proves to be more and more difficult. But an unforeseen turn of events complicates Jace and Shana’s purportedly secret affair, beginning to weaken their resolve to remain apart until Shana’s work with Granger Aeronautics is complete.
As the investigation into his father’s murder charge develops, Jace soon learns that his father wasn’t the only one having an affair all those years ago— his mother had been having having a fling as well.  He confronts his father and brothers about this, and finds that it is just another secret they’ve been living with for so many years.  But this time he needs to face the past…or risk losing his future.
A BROTHER’S HONOR is a rich narrative and vintage storytelling from one of the genre’s most beloved talents.
